Legacy-About Page
About page from when the site was on Angloindianblogs.com
-What is Angloindianblogs.com for?
Angloindianblogs.com is a website created as a one stop source for finding, reading and writing blog posts of concern to Anglo-Indians.
-How does the Feed Page work?
Blog Addresses are manually added to a feed aggregator which looks at the blog address and then receives all the posts from that blog. The aggregator then turns the received feeds into blog excerpts stamped with the original date and re-posts the blog excerpts on the Feed Page of angloindianblogs.com with link backs to the original website in the title of the blog article or in the read more link (currently unavailable) if that article exceeds more than 50 words.
The aggregator also checks for updates to the blog and everytime a blog post is created or an older post is updated, the aggregator in turn updates the related excerpted blog posts on angloindianblogs.com
-What does Angloindianblogs.com mean by Syndicate?
Syndication is the redistribution of non-copyrighted materials published on news feeds from a website.
To avoid misunderstandings over copyright matters, angloindianblogs.com would stop syndicating news feeds from active bloggers who have not responded to requests for syndicating their excerpted blogs after a week of sending the requests for permission (requests are being sent using contact forms or comment boxes) to syndicate their blog feed. Inactive blogs are being syndicated under the assumption that the lack of response is due to a change in mailing address or demise of the author. A list of Blog Authors who have granted permission for syndication/re-posting of all their blog posts or specified posts is being processed.
-Whats an Aggregator?
An aggregator is a program used by a website or desktop application to receive blog posts from multiple website. The aggregator(s) in use at angloindianblogs.com receive the blog posts from external blogs and syndicates/reposts them to the feed page at angloindianblogs.com
-Would Anglo-Indians be the only authors of blog posts?
If a blog has an article of interest to Anglo-Indians but not authored by an Anglo-Indian, an administrator at angloindianblogs.com would seek permission of the author to post that particular article in whole, or excerpt form as per the authors wishes and the administrator would then post the article dated according to the time of their posting on angloindianblogs.com.
-What are in the archives?
Blog excerpts from collected blog feeds are stored in the archives according to the date of publishing by their original author.
-What Languages are supported?
All languages will be supported. Currently english blogs are posted to the Feed page.
-Whose running angloindianblogs.com?
I, Steve J Bayer am the current sole maintainer of angloindianblogs.com. I have started working on websites since January 2007 . I have been remotely employed as an intern for user experience design firm whose clients include AAA, Myspace.com, Disney, Sony and more from June 2007 to September 2007. I registered the angloindianblogs.com domain on November 29th 2007 and Blog Feeds were first syndicated/re-posted on the Feed Page on December 2nd 2007.
-I have a blog already, how do I get my blog feed picked up by angloindianblogs.com?
You can register on Technorati.com and add tag of Anglo-Indian to your blogs in the technorati tags. However using the contact-form on angloindianblogs.com would be easier to send in a link so that your blog would get posted on angloindianblogs.com for sure.
-I have a blog but I find it difficult to write to. What do I do to make things easier?
Windows Live Writer (WLW) makes blogging from windows much easier. You can blog from your windows desktop without having to visit your own blog. You can download WLW from http://get.live.com/writer/overview.
Here's a great article about windows live writer by one of India's most successful bloggers: http://www.johntp.com/2007/11/27/12-reasons-why-i-like-windows-live-writer/
-Thank you for the interest but I want my blog feed removed. How do I do that?
Please use the contact form here to send in the request: http://angloindianblogs.com/index.php/contact-form/
-Some links from Google are causing 404 Errors:
An older version of the blog aggregator, that duplicated content, was used during the first few days and duplicated content. A new aggregator has been implemented and updated (page load errors may fill the screen but a page reload would fix the screen till a new update removes the false errors.)
Blog authors who have approved syndication of their blog(s):

Nice! I like the simplicity of the setup and also the exposure you get to so many other Anglo bloggers whom I otherwise would have not known about.
Hi Conrad, I'm glad ya like it.
I'm considering keeping angloindianblogs.com as a very light website so users who do not have javascript enabled can use the website. If someone has a very old computer or are in a cafe or school with very tight network security, they should be able to access the website with javascript switched off.
Hi Terry,
I've added a machine readable sitemap for the moment to bring in more readers from search engines. A human readable sitemap will be available when stage ready.
My personal Website is http://stevejbayer.com
Although posts regarding web development ventures of mine can be found at http://stevebayer.net
Good start Steve.
Can I suggest that you add the Intro from your Drupal Blog to this page so that it is 'clearer' to your visitors what it is you are offering?
Since we are now in email contact, look forward to hearing from you again.
P.S. The Sitemap link is 404-ing. Early days I guess!
Hi
Could I send you a small article on my childhood memories of KGF?
